If I lose my place in line...

When: Freshman year
Where: Unnamed City, School
Who: Aunt Ses, Uncle Kalvin, School folk, Men in Black

It began peacefully. It was spring break '09. Mid April. My aunt and Uncle from overseas were taking me on a short vacation to the city. I have no earthly idea which city... but it was a big city. We had just gotten back to the small place on the bay where we were staying. The little condo-like place had a deck that turned into a dock and went out into the water. I was fiddling with a bracelet I had bought earlier that day in the city.  My aunt Ses had asked me to sit with her on the dock. We sat there with our feet in the water as we watched the sun set over the city. I felt like I was finally getting the face time with my aunt that I had longed for since I was young. I was finally getting to know a part of my family that every one else seemed to know better.
It seemed like everything was going alright. It was. Until we felt the dock shake.

We looked as a giant passenger plane was flying towards the city. I mean, this plane was HUGE. Not like a regular people holding plane. This was a monster. It crashed into multiple buildings. One of it's colossal engines fell off and then promptly dove into the water. A giant wave began to thrash towards us. My aunt grabbed my hand and ran her and myself back into the condo. My uncle asked what was going on but we had no time to explain. The lights went out.

So did I.

I could see a young girl running from the front of the plane, which was agape since the nose had been ripped off. She was frantically fleeing down a long hallway. It seemed as if she was doomed. She looked ahead and could see that there was a hallway to her right. As the last second she jumped and rolled into the dark hallway.

The next thing I remember was my 1st Period Geography teacher hitting me on the head with a rolled up detention slip.

"And we have a winner!"

He said sarcastically as the rest of the class chuckled. I thought to myself that I had just dreamt the whole thing. I wiped my eyes and saw the date on the red rectangle sheet. 4/30/09. That was a week past spring break. I saw the bracelet
from the city was still wrapped around my wrist. Baffeled, I spent the whole class confused about what happened. I questioned my sanity.

I jumped as my world five thoughts were interrupted by the bell. As everyone was leaving I approached my teacher. I told him my situation and asked him if I could go to the nurse. He grasped my wrist, tight. I yelled and he put his hand over my mouth.

"You watch what you say if you ever want to say anything else"

I ran out of the room to the ninth grade office to tell the administrator what happened. Before I could turn I ran right into two big men. Dressed like the Men In Black, but more huge and not on the good side. I made a thud noise as I hit them. They grabbed me by the arms and took me into the office. I was taken into the back room of the office and strapped into a chair. The lights went out and I could feel the area sink down like an elevator.
I awoke in a room very similar to the one in iRobot when they were doing whatever to the Robot Sonny. Except the room was more white than anything else. There were bright lights in my eyes and all kinds of wires attached to my body. The two big men that had abducted me from the hallway were standing above me.

"What happened on April 24th 2009?"
One of them asked.

"A passenger plane crashed into-"
I was cut off by electrical shocks, sent through me by the wires connected to me. I screamed.

"How do you remember this?"
One of the men asked, angrily. Not in frustration, but pure, hot anger. He was genuinely enraged by my memory.

"I was there!"
I yelled, in hopes they'd let me go.
I cried from the pain from the shocks.
I cried from the fear.

They continued asking me questions pertaining to that day. Each time I answered honestly. Each time I was shocked. They asked me for hours and hours and didn't hesitate to up the level on the electric shocks. The pain was unbearable, but I couldn't seem to forget what happened on that day. They seemed to be getting tired of asking me. All I had to say was the same sentence over and over.
"I remember because I was there. I remember because I was there. I remember because I was there. I remember because I was there. I remember because I was there..."

And I never forgot.

But seriously I think I died in the end.
I should have died after the first like, three shocks, but NO.
I had to keep living and repeat myself like an idiot.
Meh, whatever. Thumbs up for perseverance.

To this day I often think about this dream. Analyzing what had happened. The possibilities are endless. I usually come to the conclusion that the government had made a fatal error. A large plane crashed, killed thousands, and they didn't want to get in trouble. They wiped as many memories as they could, but missed a few. Why I could remember? I don't know I don't have a great short term memory at all. Maybe my add prevented me from paying attention to whenever they erased the memories, I honestly have no clue. Either way, this is one of my favorites because of the awesome actiony feel I got when I was dreaming it. Plus I love the thought of the government being evil badasses who aren't as cool as they think they are. The possibility of aliens is also not out of the picture, but I'll stop here.
